About

Hi, I’m Lukas.

I’m a sound designer and composer based in Basel. After studying music and media arts in Bern, I spent twelve years as an audio engineer at SRF, Swiss public radio and television. I still write music and create sound design for SRF’s audio dramas. Several audio series I worked on as sound designer have won the Swiss Press Award.

I co-founded Audiobande, a Swiss collective of sound designers and journalists producing audio stories, listening experiences for museums and podcasts.

Alongside that I produce my own projects: podcasts, audio dramas and soundscapes for exhibitions. What I love most is the moment a sound makes a scene believable.

Process

How a project works

  1. 01

    Conversation

A free 20-minute intro call: what should people hear, who is it for, and when is it due?

  2. 02

    Proposal

A clear quote with scope, price, schedule and number of feedback rounds.

  3. 03

    Production

Recording, editing and, if needed, sound design. Sound design and composition can be developed together.

  4. 04

    Delivery

Final files in every format you need. Editing and mixing include one round of feedback.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does a production cost?

It depends a lot on the work involved: a straightforward edit takes far less time than detailed sound design, and it makes a difference whether I do the recording too. After a short call you get a fixed quote.

Do you work outside Basel?

Yes. I do editing, mixing, sound design and composition from Basel for clients all over Switzerland. Recordings happen on location or remotely.

How long does a production take?

For a conversation podcast with around one hour of material, editing and mixing usually takes one working day (recording not included). A custom sound design usually takes about three weeks, or up to two months including feedback rounds. We set the exact schedule together at the start.

Which formats do you deliver?

All common formats such as WAV or MP3, mastered to each platform’s loudness standards. Stems for further editing on request.

What is the difference to Audiobande?

Through Soundguy Basel you book me directly for the sound: sound design, composition and post-production. If a project also needs concept, research, editorial work or an installation on site, I work with Audiobande.

Which languages do you work in?

German and English.
